Join us Saturday, September 12th, for an in-person gallery talk and plein air demonstration (weather permitting) by 2025 Artist-in-Residence Kellyann Monaghan! Monaghan will speak on her residency and artworks, as well as give a live demonstration on how she created her plein air paintings. Plein air is a French term which refers to the practice of painting entire finished artworks outside or “out of doors”. Guests will be able to ask questions during the gallery talk and hear about the artwork directly from the artist herself. Please dress for the weather, as ideally we will be going out onto the Peterson Preserve.
Last year, Monaghan spent a week at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute and studied images and illustrations of northeastern birds now threatened by population decline. In her exhibition, Resilience in Flight, Monaghan created colorful impressionist works…
